Kirk Manzo, Director
of Consulting for
Ziegler SuperSystems, has extensive
sales and sales training background spanning over 20 years.
Kirk’s sales career
began in college, selling books “door to door” each summer on his way
to earning a B.S. in Economics from Florida State University. In 1985 he
was recruited to work for Fujitsu (Japan’s largest computer
manufacturer) selling imaging technology to banks and automobile dealers
throughout South Florida. In 4 short years, he was promoted to become
the youngest National Account Manager in the companies history,
finishing #1 nationwide in his first year. Little did he realize the
circle would complete itself some years later.
A strong work ethic
was instilled in Kirk at a very young age, working every summer from age
8 with his father Pablo Manzo’s electrical construction business. Pablo
taught him the importance of working hard and doing the job right. So
when the opportunity to develop a sales territory in the Caribbean and
Central America distributing building materials came along, well Kirk
couldn’t pass this up. For 5 years he traveled extensively overseas
training sales staffs at retail stores on product knowledge and sales
approaches.
Once again a new
challenge presented itself, to work with U.S. Surgical, training and
supporting surgeons and O.R. staff on the use of advanced minimally
invasive surgical technology. This later resulted in working further
with doctors at a mid-sized fee only planner that specialized in
providing financial planning and practice management consulting
services. As Director of new client programs he grew their assets by
over $150 million in less than 2 years.
Like many of you,
Kirk did not start his career thinking he would work in the car
business. The image that John Q Public had of car dealerships was
certainly less than complementary. But this seemed like the right
opportunity at the right time. Kirk was asked to join a small group of
other professionals to become the core team to open and run one of the
first used car superstores in South Florida.
Manzo received a
crash course on recruiting, training and managing a sales team, acting
as both sales and F&I manager . They say that experience is a great
teacher, well he got plenty of schooling quick! The store was seeing an
unbelievable amount of floor traffic. As a result Kirk would personally
work 10-15 deals a day and the store was delivering 300+ used cars a
month out of the gate. The GM wanted to help Kirk get a better picture
of the car business, so he was promoted to inventory manager and
appraiser to learn pricing and market values by helping to run sales at
the weekly auctions. It was an invaluable education.
Kirk’s experience in
coordinating and conducting training for the 40+ salespeople at his
store lead to a position as a District Training manager in Atlanta. He
was responsible for ongoing training of existing staff as well as
opening new dealerships. Over time the, opportunity to work with Auto
Nation's New Car franchises helped complete the picture of the retail
automotive market.
Today as a member of
Ziegler SuperSystems consulting and training team, Kirk Manzo brings a
unique perspective to coaching sales teams to improve bottom line
results.
Kirk is a
professional member of the prestigious National Speakers Association and
the American Society of Training and Development.
